The International Conference "Role of UNESCO in the Modern World" in the framework of The Second Pan-European Festival Marathon – 2015 under UNESCO patronage will be held on June 4 at UNESCO HQ in Paris

On June 4the International Conference "Role of UNESCO in modern world" will be held at UNESCO's Headquarter in Paris on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Organization and Year of Literature in Russia.

The Conference is organized under the patronage of UNESCO within the framework of the International Cultural Project  "Second Pan-European Festival Marathon" which consists of series of cultural events that aims to unite cultural space of  Wider Europe from the Pacific to the Atlantic oceans. 

One of the main aims of the Conference is to consolidate the international community on the issue of the unity of the humanitarian space of the Wider Europe: from the Pacific to the Atlantic as well as summariz and disseminat the experience of UNESCO in preserving and promoting humanitarian values in the world.

The Conference will be attended by prominent politicians, representatives of the diplomatic community, international non-governmental organizations, cultural figures and experts from different countries.

The Conference is organized by the UNESCO Sector of Culture, Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO and Russian Parliamentary European Club.

The idea of ​​the Conference has been  supported personally by UNESCO Director-General Ms Irina Bokova.

The debates will be broadcasted via live streaming.
