The Bashkortostan – Pearl of Russia presentation of the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russian Federation) marking the 15th anniversary of cooperation between Bashkortostan and UNESCO will take place at the UNESCO Headquarters on 1-2 October 2013.
The presentation will include expositions introducing a wonderful and fascinating region of the Russian Federation – the Republic of Bashkortostan, its unique monuments of spiritual, material and immaterial culture of Bashkir people, the Land of Ural-Batyr – an epic hero of Bashkir people, as well as the Bashkir Urals - UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of UNESCO. A mixed object of natural and cultural heritage the Land of Ural-Batyr which includes the Shulgan-Tash (Kapova) cave with a wide cultural area and foremost the Ural-Batyr folk epos have been included to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. The Ural-Batyr’ Bashkir folk epos is one of the ancient archaic masterpieces of the same value as Finnish ‘Kalevala’, German ‘The Song of the Nibelungs’, Kirghiz ‘Manas’ etc.
Main Events of the Presentation:
• An exhibition representing the cultural, educational and touristic potential of the Republic of Bashkortostan;
• ‘The Land of Ural-Batyr’ round table dedicated to the presentation of the world-famous Shulgan-Tash (Kapova) cave and a unique cultural heritage ‘The Ural-Batyr’ folk epos.
• A round table dedicated to the 15th anniversary of cooperation between the Republic of Bashkortostan and UNESCO and UNESCO projects and programmes being implemented in Bashkortostan for the purpose of sustainable development.
• A Gala-concert of great maîtres of Arts from the Republic of Bashkortostan. The goal of the presentation is to familiarize the international community with historical, cultural, scientific, educational, natural, tourist and business potential of the Republic of Bashkortostan, including the extant elements of traditional national culture of the Bashkirs, major world-scale achievements in various fields of science, technology, culture and education, preservation of natural cultural heritage, language diversity and folk crafts, key activities on further development and strengthening of cooperation between the Republic of Bashkortostan and UNESCO.
The presentation of the Republic of Bashkortostan in Paris will become a large-scale event revealing potential of the Republic of Bashkortostan and defining new trends of international cooperation.
The climax of the presentation will be the signing of a Joint Communique between the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan and UNESCO on key UNESCO programmes and projects being implemented in Bashkortostan, including preservation of its cultural, natural and documentary heritage, in particular promotion of a mixed natural and cultural property ‘the land of Ural-Batyr’ to the UNESCO World Heritage List, recognition of the unique immaterial cultural value of traditional holiday ‘Sabantuy’, Bashkir national musical instrument ‘kurai’ and others.
Bashkortostan is also to present its investment and scientific potential for French and other foreign business community at the premises of the Russian Embassy in France. Moreover, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Paris will host a concert dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Feodor Shaliapin, a world-famous singer and actor and to the 75th anniversary of the world-renowned ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, who debuted in the capital of Bashkortostan - the City of Ufa. ".
