On May 10, at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, the Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO will celebrate the anniversary of the end of World War II in cooperation with the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the CIS (IFESCCO) and a number of NGOs.
A representative delegation from the Foundation, headed by Co-Chairman Mikhail Shvydkoi and Executive Director Armen Smbatyan, renowned scholars and public figures from the CIS, will take part in the festivities.
The International Colloquium “The Role of International Organizations in Preventing Wars (Lessons from the 20th Century)” is the main event in a series of joint events coordinated by the CIS countries and UNESCO. The speeches that are made by the colloquium’s prestigious participants will later be published.
UNESCO leaders, among them Eleonora Mitrofanova, Chairman of UNESCO’s Executive Board and Permanent Delegate of the Russian Federation, will welcome the Colloquium organizers and participants.
The Colloquium will be followed by a press conference with representatives from IFESCCO and Colloquium participants for the Russian and foreign mass media. Vladimir Spivakov, a famous Russian conductor and UNESCO Artist for Peace, will also take part in the press conference.
The gala concert of the CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Spivakov, will take place in the evening. The orchestra includes 112 young performers from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
